The Commonwealth of Anbhor

Demographics

The Commonwealth of Anbhor was an expansive title that once referred to every organized township west of Spirix. It was home to over 12 million inhabitants of all kinds, races, backgrounds, and more. Each settlement had its own information regarding demography, but it was safe to say that Anbhor was majority Human and Dwarvish. The people that called it home were also commonly farmers and agrarians working the wheatlands, just above the poverty line. Its middle class was nearly nonexistent, made up majorly of adventurers and the guilds they contracted under. Anbhor was especially kind to merchants and traders, who made up much of the aristocracy. Those aristocratic merchants dreamed of becoming wealthy enough to become members of the Assembly.

Government

Anbhor's governance was overseen by a collective of wealthy merchants, businessmen, and a variety of barons from different industries known as The Assembly. Membership had only one requirement, the ability to provide funds. Instead of taking taxes from any of Anbhor's citizens, a policy that attracted thousands more merchants each year, all government spending and infrastructure was funded by the membership fees paid in by Assemblymembers. At its inception, there were several dozen members, but every few years the number shrank and the monetary requirements soared, making fewer and fewer ultrawealthy autocrats. By the time the Commonwealth fell to pieces, there were only 17 people funding the government, roads, schools, health, security, and other benefits of more than 12 million people.

Assets

Anbhor is incredibly valuable to the rest of Terisirae for two major reasons, its expansive farmlands that grow more than 60% of all food consumed in the country and Cania's Reservoir, the single largest freshwater body in the world. Rough valuations of these assets vary, but six members of the Assembly have paid the entirety of their membership fees with income generated from the sale and partial ownership of one or both of these resources.
