Personal history

Cromwell Cresthart has run a disinformation campaign for much of his life to obscure the details of his upbringing. As an Assemblymember, he made waves as a cruel and calculating financier. He would routinely push through Assembly provisions that led to the loss of jobs for hundreds in order to preserve what were considered "acceptably profitable margins", taking the money and reinvesting it into even greater pursuits. In doing so, Cresthart gained a reputation as a job creator, but he was also able to taint even that piece of his identity with his practices.   One such infamous incident was when he reduced the number of available positions tending to Cania's Reservoir from 5,000 to just over 800. After the dust had settled and everyone had just begun getting used to the new requirements of their roles, a shipment from Waleah arrived from across the desert, 800 Warforged units outfitted with agriculture equipment. Cresthart took all the profits from the Reservoir and began a program that would assist displaced workers in nearby communities find stable jobs in other sectors. Though it was praised at first for its charity, members quickly found out that by joining the program, they were contractually obligated to return anywhere between 13 and 27% of their pay to the organization.   Since the fall of the Assembly, Cresthart has been the target of numerous organizations and individuals, everything ranging from petitions for restitution to outright assassination attempts. So far, he has managed to evade all such inquiries. It's a well-known secret that he now resides somewhere in Huvora, under the protection of the Villanova family. There he is slowly rebuilding what he lost, coin by coin and handshake by handshake, the once Assemblymember is determined to regain his station in life and return to the same practices that made him fabulously wealthy.   During a rare public appearance in the Spring of 1124, Cresthart was once quoted saying that, given the history of the region, investing in Governor Letarian Villanova was the best business venture of his life.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Failures & Embarrassments

It is well known among many of the citizens of Terisirae's west that Cromwell Cresthart was one of the key architects of The Three Crown War. Without his contributions and encouragement, it is likely that the war which claimed thousands of lives and directly led to the fall of The Commonwealth of Anbhor would have been avoided.   For this reason, many have attempted to track him down and force him to pay restitution, either through monetary means or a pound of flesh. He spent many years after the fall of Anbhor bouncing from one safe house to the other with pursuers quick on his tail, without the protection of The Assembly he was a prime target.   This chain of events would be embarrassing enough without the added insult that in order for him to make his way to Huvora, those responsible for moving him from place to place charged him exorbitant, utterly ridiculous fees for their services. In no position to refuse, he was forced to sell many of his personal effects and family heirlooms he was very fond of in order to safely make his way to friends in higher places than him. The final insult to all of it was begging for safe harbor from Letarian Villanova the way Villanova had once begged him to help secure his position within The Assembly.   Though many would undoubtedly think of this turn of events as some form of karmic grace, of friendly enthusiasm to help, Cromwell Cresthart carries it like the world's largest chip on the country's smallest shoulder. Despising the idea of owing debt in any form to any person, he is adamant about one day settling the scorecard between himself and the Villanova family.

Intellectual Characteristics

Though he has kept much of his upbringing and education a closely guarded secret, Cresthart is very proud of his intellect, citing it as a key reason he was able to maintain his family's position, push their wealth to unprecedented heights, and become a central member of The Assembly.   Cresthart also extols his alma matter, Tervisyo Academy, a huge civil academy outside of what was once Bearingpool that teaches all manner of subjects to only the most exclusive students. He has been quoted in saying that, were it not for Tervisyo, he would be in squalor and would have brought great shame to his family name.   Highly educated or not, Cromwell Cresthart has a mind for numbers and data analytics. He is notoriously bad with people and his emotional intelligence is among the worst in the world, but he has an unparalleled ability to quickly analyze statistics, numbers, dispersion of income, asset management, debt to equity ratios, etc. Given his skill set, it was almost destined for him to become a business mogul on the level that he is. Was.
