Spirix, the Glowing Sands

Geography

Spirix is a long stretch of desert sands that run through the central region of Terisirae, immediately west of both The Colum Kingdom and The Green Line. The official area of Spirix extends from the northern tip to the southern shores, nearly 750 miles of sand and heat.
It exists in the rain shadow of The Green Line, a gathering of clouds constantly just out of reach from the rocky crags and shifting dunes. A valley exists down the center of the continent spanning mountain range where Colum stands, like a wind tunnel that shelters precious few settlements and travelers stations to safely ferry adventurers between east and west. As a region, Spirix is hot and humid, a glut of wet air traveling through its center before spreading northward and southward.

Fauna & Flora

Given its baren characteristics, little exists within--or is native to--the sands of Spirix. There do exist rare desert flowers that are key ingredients to herbalists and apothecaries.
Silverwings are large scavenger birds that patrol the northern portion of Spirix, circling high in the sky above the rocky protrusions of the Angula Crags, mountainous valleys and canyons where many creatures native to The Green Line can be found roaming.
The Ryth Bud is one such plant native to Spirix's south, where nutrient-rich waters from nearby swamp deltas mix into what little fertile ground can be supported in the area. Ryth Bud is a potent analgesic that can be life-saving in small doses and potentially lethal if not handled properly, however its most dangerous characteristics are its highly addictive qualities. It is highly sought after, caravans regularly dispatched from Colum to collect Ryth plants for all kinds of instructional, commercial, and government use.

Natural Resources

What few natural resources Spirix has to offer can be found in the few mineral outcrops that can be found in its native plants and the region spanning rock formations known as the Angula Crags.
