The Taking of Bearingpool

It is a beautiful thing to witness, after so many long years of fighting for it, the liberation of a people from their torment and agony. A testament to the will of the masses and their unwillingness to go unheard, The Taking of Bearingpool is a symbol not only of change, but of hope and progress.              - Duty Cpt, Ashley Moztel

The Conflict

Prelude

After many years of public liberty being slowly stripped, the people of Bearingpool were unruly and primed for change. A radical element entered the town, Ser Alduric Veren, who united a coalition of volunteers into a militia to march onto the merchant sector of the town.

Deployment

With torches flaring and outrage boiling over, Ser Veren and a contingent of adventurers, citizens, disgruntled military personnel, and other dissidents rallied in the heart of town, an alliance over 1500 strong.   Split roughly into 8 regiments, and even more subdivided into smaller groups, they set to burn businesses, institutions, and homes belonging to the town's elite and wealthy.

Battlefield

Though the majority of the conflict was focused on the commerce and downtown areas of Bearingpool, it quickly spilled over to the rest of the town as villagers and peasantry rose up all around the city's outer edge. Quickly, the gates were locked from the outside and The Taking began in earnest.

Outcome

When the sun rose on Kythorn 5th of 1095 Y.E., it rose over a new Bearingpool. It rose on a town without leadership, without social stratification, without the crippling oppression of the means of the moneyed class.   Of course, it also awoke with severe property damage and unsure inklings of how to sincerely begin a new and unprecedented society.

Aftermath

Word escaped Bearingpool almost immediately, as guards hurriedly escaped the fury of rioters and the underclass, they assembled outside the city gates to push further north. Informing the Commonwealth of the events and regathering their forces, it is inevitable that those with a vested interest in the sustained exploitation of Bearingpool will return with arms to reclaim it. To these would-be conquerors, Ashley Moztel, Veren's second in command and lone commander of the Bearingpool militia had this to say, "They will be met in kind."
