Peraduan Peninsula
Geography
The Peraduan Peninsula is a region characterized by diverse topography and a strategic coastal position in southern Hyperborea. From the majestic peaks of the Peradine Hills in the north to the sun-kissed beaches along the eastern coast, the geography of Peradua is a tapestry of mountains, plains, lakes, and seas.
Mountains & Plains
The northern tip of the Peraduan Peninsula hosts the lofty Peradine Hills, home to the highest peaks in the region. These mountains, comprising around 10% of the peninsula, contribute to the stunning vistas and rocky terrain that gradually descends into sandstone bluffs and sandy beaches along the east coast. In the southwestern reaches, the landscape transforms into vast plains dotted with farm towns. These towns cluster strategically at the intersections of expansive acreages that roll off towards the Dominion of Venado, forming the breadbasket of Peradua.Lakes & Rivers
Nestled within the heart of the peninsula, Lake Peradua is a central feature. Two significant islands, Sarcosia and Stelana, grace its waters. The Towers of Sea and Sky on these islands are the epicenters of meteorological magics, where Djinasi masters control the weather in the Cathrican Cradle.
The largest navigable river in Peradua, the Pelantine flows southward from Lake Peradua, draining its waters into the Straits of Adastra. This mighty river serves as a lifeblood, irrigating vast stretches of the lower peninsula and influencing the agricultural heartland.
Harbours & Seas:
To the west, the Gulf of Peradua provides sheltered harbours for maritime activities, connecting Peradua to broader seafaring trade routes. To the north lies the Cathrican Sea, a vital expanse that extends the maritime reach of Peradua and facilitates connections with neighboring realms. On the eastern front, the Strait of Adastra serves as a significant maritime passage, linking the waters of Lake Peradua with the broader expanse of the Peraduan Straits. To the south, the Seagarden adds another dimension to Peradua's maritime influence, presenting opportunities for trade and cultural exchange. The geographic richness of the Peraduan Peninsula, from its mountainous northern peaks to the fertile plains, lakes, and strategic coastal positions, not only shapes the daily lives of its inhabitants but also influences the political, economic, and magical currents that flow through the realm.Ecosystem
Climate
- Many famous mountains, including Zoras, Hudna, and Jalitan, call Peradua home.
- These rivers are, alphabetically: Broadan, Pelantine, & Volcanis.
- Note that this doesn't always mean 'pleasant'. Djinasi are a martial folk, given to a certain elemental stoicism and inured to certain kinds of suffering. Besides, that which is pleasant for one type might be excruciating for another; Fire and Water, for instance, have very different views on a monsoon.
