The Laws of Emynea

There is a massive influence in the world from the Erlithmanil, the ten elements, and their children, the minor elements. Every single person has two 'blessing' that make up their 'racial magic' or 'magic form'. They can inherit these, in whichever combination, from each of their parents/grandparents. The same can be said for all plants an animals but I definitely need to work on these ecosystems more. These forms, in whatever expression, stem off of an aspect of the Erlithmanil. Example: Azowyr's Step (Shadow Step) allows that person to enter and exit Azowyr's Plane through shadows. Flithmar's Aura (Flame Aura) allows that person to generate or summon flames within a certain distance. They all have structure but, unfortunately, some are definitely stronger than others. Luxis, the life entity, doesn't gift all of their creations equally and neither did the youthful Erlithmanil.

There are other kinds of magic too as magic is an expression of life force in this world. Everything is magic between the life force, cognizance and the materials that make up the world, the elements. Material magic, for example, is where the person takes magically infused remains/materials and, with the right combination and knowledge, is able to catalyze that into a given result with only a little of their own internal well of magic. There are some even who have so much life force they are able to manipulate it in ways all their own depending on their talent and skill. These rare people are called mages and they are extremely valued, especially true mages. Enchantment is another major form of magic as well and it has complex formulas and structures one has to study extensively to understand and it takes the right materials as well to construct. However, some true mages seem able to make up their own unique formulas and constructs.

Finally, there is a balance of that life energy maintained by Luxis and Azryth. They do not choose to walk the world the same way the Erlithmanil do and the elements are in fact their creations. They manage the balance of souls and life energy and are seeming 'administrators' to this universe, occasionally making pacts or creating new 'rules' for this universe. They are unable to break their pacts, just like the Erlithmanil.

Cosmology

Everything started with a mass of energy some humans have come to view as magic. The first two consciousness to form were Luxis and Azryth. They are the administrators of this reality, shaping and molding it themselves and overseeing their creation. They began molding the energy, first creating the planet. Luxis then populated that world with various, beautiful creations using the energy and Azryth claimed those creations back over time to maintain balance. This is meant to be Earth. Different cultures and societies believed different things about the nature of the universe some coming closer than others. Azryth cared little about woship and Luxis was fickle, not faulting his creations for their creative ideas.

Then, as we lost touch with nature and our society developed as it is now, they decided to give consciousness, souls, to the forces that made up the world--the Erlithmanil. They did so with the hopes that humanity couldn't continue to destroy, disregard and disconnect themselves from nature if these forces were living, powerufl beings. The Erlithmanil possessed the energy of the materials that make up the world, their souls were large and ever changing as the world changed. They walked the planet as children and began changing it to make it more beautiful and special. They also began gifting Luxis' creations with their magic, so they could better survive their new world and in thanks for their adoration and worship. The Erlithmanil renamed our planet Emynea, their own word for 'home'.
As for Luxis and Azryth, they continue managing the balance, exchange and processing of souls/life energy. Luxis was passionate but impulsive, always eager to create more life with the remaining energy. Azryth took up collecting the souls of the dead so that they could remove any damages, impurities, lingering emotions, etc. so that the new soul Luxis creates starts life with a 'clean slate' of sorts. The balance falters when the population grows and exceeds the death rate, stretching the energy thinner and thinner. Azryth becomes unable to complete their work before Luxis takes these souls, popping them into a new life despite impurities, damage and the like. This has a multitude of consequences.
In a way, Luxis and Azryth are true gods, but in this world, all entities, including these two, the Erlithmanil and the minor elements, are bound by their pacts. And all of the world is crafted of the same energy.

Principal Geography & Features

The world's basic geography is very different to what it once was. The Erlithmanil rearranged continents and oceans and each had their own favorite areas. Each of them also had their own 'Seat' that they called their personal home. The people of these regions were typically blessed by the Element that focused on their home but obviously there are exceptions where another took interest in them or as people migrated/interbred. As the Erlithmanil came to understand their home and humanity, they experimented with society. This could range from altering the culture or structure of a society, mashing some cultures together or even rejuvinating and reviving old cultures or ethnic groups. These have all advanced, dissipated and altered over millions of years but a number of cultural, technological and societal practices and traditions are often reintroduced or inserted by these entities and their children according to their own preferences and whims.

The geography itself is extreme from glass mountains, magnetic islands, volcanic cities or islands forever swallowed in mist. Its a beautiful and extreme planet. Alkelbulan for example is dominated by the elements of light and fire. This includes burning grasslands, radiant desert and illusionary savannah. Zhongguo, however, was the favorite of water, earth, air and magma. The coast is lined with volcanoes which feed a fertile, ashen farmland. Massive, sharp peaks are shrouded in mists are rich in gems and precious metals, but seismic activity makes it too dangerous for those not blessed by Ylithuum. And of course, there are the tepid lakes, where an aquatic society thrives in the magma heated lakes and the rolling tundra steppes to the north are home to people blessed with ice and air magics. The biomes are extremely diverse and the people there thrive with the matching magics.

Initial Active Setting

At first, the story centers on Tia and her family travelling from the major port town on Accia's eastern coast to the capital in the center of the valley. She spends some time learning about Accia and preparing herself for an upcoming journey, all within the capital city. Then, for the bulk of the book, she will travel in a military procession that takes those in the program from compound to compound throughout all of the Accian territories. This will be pretty extreme, but readers will get to experience the full diversity of their empire while events unfold.
