Iska

(a.k.a. Ice/Cold)


Iska is an aspect of Wylrith and is a physical aspect. It consists of ice and cold. This is both reduced and absence of heat as well as physical ice, solid form of water. It's counterpart, Emryl, is heat and an aspect of Ferith, fire. The ice of Iska can take on various sizes and structures.

Much like Emryl, Iksa is able to generate or manipulate temperatures independent of outside influences. As Emryl doesn't rely on fire for heat, Iska is able to influence cold independently as well but also manipulating and generating ice, the cold form of water. However, unlike Iska, Emryl generates energy and can more intensely alter physical matter with that energy wheras Iska consists of a decrease or lack of energy. The effects, mechanics and influence of these magics is similar or the same as in ordinary physics, but can be magically altered or generated. Control over this aspect can be utilized to alter temperature, craft structures or items out of ice, to manipulate cold or ice in the environment, to protect or defend among others. Potential lies in the imagination of the caster.

Iska's Plane itself is hazardously cold in some places and mildly cold in others. Much like Rithaldis' Plane, these fluctuations differ in a way invisible to those not blessed to perceive it. The plane is also filled with various structures of ice that act as roadways between portals. The corresponding cold and ice in the physical world overlay the sky and foundation of the plane, the ice walkways leading to each of them. As large enough instances of ice or cold develop, new walkways form in response.

Those who possess Racial Magic descend from those gifted with Iska's blessings tend to possess one or two personality quirks or tendencies that Iska itself possesses. As Iska is an aspect of Wylrith, these qualities are some of those Wylrith possesses. Iska exists within the plane and their consciousness is a piece of Wylrith's whole mind.

Racial Manifestations



When Wylrith gifted all lifeforms with his magic, each life form was capable of receiving two gifts. Each of these blessings would grant the lifeform a connection to a specific aspect and this connection could be utilized in a given way. These gifts were passed down to their descendants as well and eventually beings came to call these gifts Racial Magic. These are named by the aspect a caster is connected to and by how they can use it, how they manifest their connection. Some Iska manifestations will utilize only ice or only cold temperatures while others can utilize both.

Manifestations

Manipulation
Able to manipulate and reshape ice or cold temperatures present in their environment.

Aura
Able to generate or summon ice or cold temperatures.

Movement
Able to walk, step or move on or through ice.

Eye
Able to see thermally rather than by light and his thermal vision goes by coolness rather than heat. Can also see any ice in their environment despite barriers.

Sense
Can feel the world around them via temperature, feeling the coolness of everything around them. They can also sense any ice in their environment and how anything interacts with that ice.

Skin
Can produce layers of ice from their skin and expand this around themselves into various shapes. They are also tolerant to extremely cold conditions and can cool their skin at will.

Touch
Can rapidly cool the temperature of whatever they touch. The longer the duration, the more extreme the temperature and the further it permeates.

Charge
Can store up Iska magic or extreme cold temperatures inside their bodies. They can convert this to energy, transfer the cold or energy to a target or re-release it like an aura at will.

Diet
Able to consume or absorb ice as sustenance or to replenish magic energy.

Craft
Able to craft ice by hand with great detail and without need for tools.

Will
Can produce ice or cool air which amplifies the magic of others upon contact or extend this effect into ice already present. 

Blade
Can generate blades of ice from their body or as bladed weapons.

Pocket
Able to create small portals into Iska's Plane big enough to reach their hands or arm inside and can place or remove small items from the plane. They can store things here or pluck ice from the plane.

Breath
Can exhale extremely cold air.

Sleep
Can induce sleep, a hibernation, onto a target and slow their metabolism by cooling their body. This state has a regenerative, healing effect on the target despite the cooling.

Shield
Immune to negative effects and/or damage from all ice magic and naturally occurring cold and ice. They are also extremely tolerant to cold.

Vision
Able to enter a meditative state in which the caster can explore and peek through portals or windows within Iska's Plane.

Step
Can enter and exit Iska's Plane via portals and travel the plane freely, without injury. Can bring another with them while maintaining contact.

Form
Can convert parts of their body into ice or has ice incorporated into their form.

Body
Can convert entire body into ice and merge with or travel along other ice.
