Legend of The Oharith
as originally told by Ecaeris The Oharith is a legend that is a closely held secret between small group of academics, scholars & theologians. The exact provenance of the Oharith isn't clear even to this group and the true nature of the Oharith is also a matter of some debate.- Several theories exist though it is generally agreed the Oharith is associated with a time in Ellios about 7000 years ago
- Ancient texts that at one time were held in the Great Library of Sunom are believed to have retained a recorded history but these are lost as a result of the cleansing and the collapse of Sunom during a great earthquake
- The Oharith may have been a people
- They were believed to use an ancient language for which no records exist or if they did they are now lost, it too may have been called Oharith but that's conjecture
- The Oharith may also have been a small group within that ancient people, perhaps seers or priests of some sort no one is entirely sure
- A generally held view is that a series of prophecies exist from this time and 'The Oharith' is used to refer to these prophecies
- One ancient text in the Great Library of Sunom talks of a series of encrypted tablets, these may be the Oharith
- It's not known how many prophecies there are or exactly what they fortel, or over what period. The prediction of cause and coming of the Great Cleansing of Ellios is a working theory
- Evidence was found that these prophecies were so revealing that they were encrypted to hide their true wording from view
- They may predict the end of Ellios and how that can be achieved and/or prevented, though some believe the cleanse was this episode
- Supposedly Dwarves were enlisted at the time to devise an encryption mechanism and the Oharith were encrypted in an ancient Dwarven script because that is what they were familiar working with
- What or how this encryption mechanism was or how coded prophecies could be decoded is unknown. Some believe it was magic but other scholars point to the mechanical genius of Dwarves
- Scholars have been searching for the Oharith for centuries, and it's likely less scrupulous peoples have also been doing this so that they can bend the prophecies to their own end
