Egoni

Ring of mountains with a small bay cut into the ring, center of continent is mostly forest, plains, and marsh. There is a small desert due to rain shade by the north-west mountains. Only one Raliok tree grows on Egoni, and it is near the northern edge of the forest. Much of its root system extends to the south, and the forest around it is mostly made of fruit trees and smaller cousins of the Raliok, that are somewhat stunted in height due to the Raliok roots making it difficult for the tree-cousins to have deep roots. These smaller cousins are incredibly wide and squat with two or three short but thick branches coming out of the top. The fruit trees resemble their Vera varieties, but with more succulent fruits due to the rich soil and plentiful water in the region. All upturned rock due to the Raliok roots are covered in moss, and vines hang from the Raliok branches.   The mountains have little vegetation other than thick spongy mats of tangled plants, most of them varieties of bush and flowers that have very shallow roots and long windy branches and leaves that serve to suck the moisture out of soil and air as much as possible. Walking on this material feels like each step has a drastic spring to its step. The further up the mountains, the plant life turns to tundra grass, which are tiny tufts that stick out on bare ground between rocky outcroppings.

Geography

As mountains circle Egoni's central forest and plains, these mountains hold five deep canyons, where the wind can blow anywhere from 100 to 200 kilometers per second, depending on season. Several of the canyons were rifts created by earthquakes, with only one being formed by a river (Amihan Ikarosian). The other four were rifts, and their canyon floors are riddled with cave entrances, many of the caves extending several hundred meters further into the crust. A few meet in a deep underground aquifer, that feeds much of the towns within the mountains. When the fierce winds hit during the Storm Season, the wind plays across the cave entrances like a person blowing across the flute's mouthpiece. This creates a unique "wind-singing" that Egoni is known for and has heavily influenced the culture of the area.

Localized Phenomena

Wind-singing from the canyons increase in loudness during the storm seasons.
