Shadow Stalker
Shadow Stalkers are the evolved form of Shadow Walker predators born from shadow. Once one has taken shape, it is no longer passively feeding it is hunting.
A Shadow Stalker will observe, stalk, and circle its prey, using a wide array of abilities drawn from everything it has absorbed over its existence. The more it has consumed, the more dangerous and versatile it becomes.
They hunger for all forms of life plants, animals, and intelligent creatures alike and they pursue their prey aggressively. Every piece of essence they take strengthens them, turning their victims into fuel for their continued evolution.
A Shadow Stalker can take on any form it has absorbed, reshaping itself into a weapon tailored for the hunt. What it becomes is not imitation it is adaptation, refined through everything it has consumed.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Shadow Stalkers are far more advanced and dangerous. Like Shadow Walkers, they are composed of dark magical energy, but they are not bound to a single dimension. They can shift between one-dimensional shadow form and fully realized three-dimensional bodies.
Over their long existence, Shadow Stalkers absorb and store the forms of objects and creatures they have come into contact with. This allows them to replicate anything from simple shapes such as a tree’s shadow to fully realized, three-dimensional versions of living beings.
In their true form, their mass can expand outward to roughly a ten-foot radius, though they rarely reveal this state unless necessary. Instead, they prefer to stalk, mimic, and deceive, using their collected forms to hunt or manipulate their surroundings.
Biological Traits
Physical Resilience
Like Shadow Walkers, Shadow Stalkers are resistant to physical damage. Strikes against them only chip away at their form gradually, making them difficult to destroy through conventional means.
Resistances & Weaknesses
- Immune to Dark magic
- Vulnerable to Light magic
- Summoned entities are recreated as dark energy constructs, not true copies
- Effects tied to elements (such as fire or light) lose their original properties, though they may still deal damage
- They cannot replicate abilities involving time manipulation, future sight, raise the dead, or resurrection
- They may immobilize or weaken the target first
- They drain continuously until the victim is left exhausted or completely consumed
Growth Rate & Stages
Shadow Stalkers are born from Shadow Walkers that have reached the peak of their growth. When a Walker expands to roughly a ten-foot radius and begins its division phase, an unusual reaction can occur.
Instead of splitting into multiple new Walkers, all of its accumulated energy, knowledge, and essence condense inward, triggering a complete transformation. This process creates a single Shadow Stalker an evolved form that retains everything the Walker has learned throughout its existence.
Unlike Shadow Walkers, Shadow Stalkers are no longer bound to waiting for shadows to pass or relying on indirect movement. They gain the ability to move freely, shifting between dimensions and actively seeking out prey, forms, and experiences to absorb.
From this point onward, Shadow Stalkers become hunters driven by curiosity, growth, and an ever-present hunger to expand their understanding of the world.
Dietary Needs and Habits
hadow Stalkers feed far more aggressively. They absorb not only aura, but also memory, skills, and deeper aspects of a creature’s essence. Their hunger is intense and all-consuming, driving them to seek out powerful or unique lifeforms.
When a Shadow Stalker feeds, it does not hold back. It drains its target completely body, energy, and identity until nothing remains but an empty husk. Everything taken is added to the Stalker itself, expanding its knowledge, abilities, and forms.
This relentless hunger makes Shadow Stalkers extremely dangerous. Their feeding behavior is not just predatory it is a process of total consumption, where the victim is erased and the Stalker becomes something more.
Behaviour
Shadow Stalkers, by contrast, are highly intelligent and dangerous predators. They are patient hunters, capable of observing, planning, and adapting before striking. Rather than rushing into conflict, they prefer to stalk their prey, learning its habits and weaknesses before moving in.
Once they attack, they aim to overpower and consume their target completely, absorbing everything the prey possesses body, memory, and ability. Their intelligence allows them to fully utilize the many forms they have acquired, shifting strategies depending on the situation and making them extremely difficult to predict or fight.
Shadow Stalkers also exhibit a disturbing psychological trait they take a form of satisfaction in breaking their prey. They will often manipulate, intimidate, or instill fear before finishing a hunt, as weakened and panicked targets are easier to consume.
While their hunger is a necessity for survival, it is not their only drive. Shadow Stalkers actively seek out new prey, challenges, and forms to absorb, pushing them to hunt even when they are not in immediate need of sustenance.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
In their one-dimensional form, Shadow Stalkers perceive the world through shadows much like Shadow Walkers, sensing movement and disturbances within darkness. However, unlike Walkers, they understand what they sense. They can interpret shapes, movement, and intent, making them far more dangerous and aware.
When linked to a creature, Shadow Stalkers gain full access to that being’s senses. They can see what it sees, hear what it hears, and process that information with clarity, storing and learning from it over time.
When shifting into a three-dimensional form, their senses depend on the form they take. They begin to replicate aspects of that creature’s sensory abilities such as hearing or smell but these are not perfect copies. Instead, they are partial adaptations that improve over time as the Shadow Stalker learns to interpret them.
Even in physical form, they retain their original shadow-based perception:
Awareness of movement through darkness
A form of tremor-like sensing within shadows
Their vision in these states is often muted or distorted, sometimes perceived in grayscale or simplified detail. However, their true strength lies not in perfect senses, but in their ability to adapt, learn, and understand whatever form they take.
