Character Creation Rules

Creating a new character

Every characters has a story of their own. Consider what happened in their past, what are the goals he or she wishes to pursue in life and how all of this shaped the character's personality. All characters are required to have a backstory. The Sheet Guide might help you have have no experience filling up sheets.

Character Sheet

We're using Mythweavers for sheets. Other sheets are acceptable as long as you get permission and they can be accessed at all times.

Starting Level

Everyone starts at level 6 with 23000XP. Medium Level Progression speed. Maximum Level is 12.

Ability Scores

We are using 25 Point Buy.

Alignment

Any alignment is allowed. Any evil alignment, especially towards the chaotic side, is not recommended for new players or people who expect a more casual experience.

Race

See what Races are available and all change to them.

Class

All available classes are listed on our Classes⁣ page.

Traits

Choose three traits, that need to be of different categories. If you pick a drawback, you're allowed a fourth trait, that can be of any category, including one that was already chosen. Drawback should be taken to fit the theme, and should be a disadvantage to the character. "of the Society" - traits allowed but should be considered thematically. Campaign traits are not allowed.

Skills and Occupation

Each character should possess an Occupation⁣ based on his backstory. Background Skills are available as per the page.

Languages

Characters can start with a free regional language (eg. Hoshigo, Alqawan), as long as their backstory supports it. This counts as part of the Retraining Rules for Languages. Consult the Languages page for available choices and homebrew rules.
Starting Languages are not restricted by race.

Feats

Everyone gains an extra feat at level 1. See changes and additions to Feats⁣ and our Feat Tax⁣. This also applies to Animal Companions and Conjuration Companions.

Health Points

Max HP for your highest single Hit Die, for any other Hit Dice you get average rounded up (d6=4, d8=5, d10=6, d12=7). This also applies to Animal Companions and Conjuration Companions.

Starting gear

Starting money is ten thousand gold pieces and this replaces any class features that would give wealth.

Other

It is possible to pick features as if having retrained them as a level 6 character, at no cost or time, but otherwise following the restrictions for it as per the retraining rules. This doesn't allow picking extra language or HP retrains at char creation.
Players are allowed to start with a lower title of nobility, such as baronet, knight or gentleman. This should be clearly indicated in the backstory of the character.
Likewise, players are allowed to start with a small house in either Silver District, Mendicant’s Plunge, Kramozdokash District or Brightstone District (this one with wealthier background). A small shop is also possible in Silver or Atelier District but it is generally presumed to be a small one without much furnishing on the lower floor with the second story being the house the PC lives in.
To start with a house, it should be noted either in the backstory or elsewhere on the sheet on submission. If no place is noted, and there isn't otherwise made note of where the PC lives, it is assumed they are living at an inn, such as the Carmine Maple House.
After submitting your first character, there is a two week delay between additional character submissions, with a max of three characters. For players who have three character slots filled, the delay is one month. In situations where a player does not have all three slots filled, or has to retire a character due to circumstances like death, the delay is only two weeks.
