Caelestis Stone

The first children are getting older now, they will be sent on their first Tasks within the year. Raphael spoke to me today, told me of another Task, to gather the flowers that grow near the Debeo, and scrape off stone from one of the walls. I was worried about damaging such an important building but they assured me it would be fine. I took a rasp and scraped an outer corner of one the walls, flakes of stone fell into the bowl below. When I stopped I had filled most of the bowl with dust. The wall looked as damaged as I thought it would, about half a centimeter deep of wall scrape off the corner but when I came back later in the day to look at it the wall was completely healed. Curious I decide to test it. On the bottom of the wall I scratch it with a knife, sat down and waited. Sure enough minutes later it began to fade, just like if you used Raphael's Sigil on a small cut.   After I got the dust I was given instruction to mix the dust and flower petals, it created a black ink with a slight sheen to it, like a liquid charcoal. Raphael told me to take the ink and make a Sigil, so that I could see its power. I decided on one easily measurable, Jehoel. I went out back and drew the sign in the dirt first with my finger. I took a step back and with some concentration a small puff of fire started on the dirt and grass. It burned out quickly. Starting again I drew the Sigil on a small piece of parchment with the ink, placed it on the ground and backed up a few more steps. With barely a thought toward the Sigil it burst into a rush of flame nearly a meter tall, luckily within the horizontal bounds of the sheet. As it burned the paper the fire faded in strength before disappearing entirely. I can't imagine what some of the Sigils could accomplish with this much power, particularly when used by a Named.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Smooth white stone that has a slight iridescence in the sunlight.

Physical & Chemical Properties

It has a unique property of being self-healing, stone shaved or cut from the source is rebuilt. Nothing larger than a few inches at once has been taken so it is unknown how regenerative it would be in larger quantities. It also does not generate growth once removed.

Geology & Geography

Caelestis Stone originates from whatever plane the Angels exist on. The only source on El is the Debeo Caelestis.

History & Usage

History

The Caelestis Stone and the building that is built from it have been on El for an unknown period of time. It first recordable discovery is by Madeleine Calmette, the first Mother.

Discovery

Everyday use

Its most frequent use is to be ground into a dust to make Sigil Ink. This in is then used by Named to write more powerful Sigils.
