Debeo Caelestis

I was very sick when I first saw it, I almost thought it a mirage. My fever had grown hotter in the past day and the stone looked so cool. As I walked in and laid down on floor the stone soothed me and I fell into fitful sleep. When I awoke I was in complete darkness, my fever and ache gone. I figured I must be dead. Soon the room began to glow, strange sigils all along the walls began to glow around me. In my head a voice told me that I was near death and that it was fate I wandered into their domain. I asked them what I could do to repay them for saving my life. I wanted to ask so many questions but did not want to anger what I thought must be a god. The voice laughed and told me they were a celestial, an Angel name Raphael. He told me he had a purpose for saving me and that I would be called Mother. He talked and I listened, and soon the glow faded and the door opened.

Purpose / Function

Debeo Caelestis is where the Naming ceremony is performed. Unnamed orphans are taken to the room by Mother and placed on the stone altar,if accepted to be name the sigils will begin glow faintly. Mother then leaves the room and the door slides over and forward it then glows faintly and seals flush with the room. No one but the children know what happens in the room, but they are so young they never remember. After the Naming the door unseals and opens. When the Mother enters to get the child their name is echoed in her head. If the child is not accept they remain UnNamed.

Architecture

Behind the main orphanage of The Gate is hexagonal building made of smooth white stone, with a rounded roof. The door is made of this same stone, it slides out from inside the room and moves forward to fit perfectly within the door space. Inside is one room, the wall are covered in the sigils of each Angels name, 112 in total. Of those a number of them are darker than the rest and have an almost glimmer to them, these are the one who have Named bound to them.

History

It is unknown how long the building has been there. The Gate records start with discovering it almost 400 years ago with ruins of various old buildings located where the main orphanage is now located.
