Gazari Moss is a plant very similar to the magically charged
Myridias Moss, but this plant is not able to store any magical energy and has a distinct brown color. It grows in abundance in the area of Copperwynn and has adapted to the effects of the
Copperwynn Magic Drain there.
It grows in large clumps all over the area and is able to store large amounts of water for a long time.
During long periods of drought a person can sometimes be tempted to drink from the liquid stored in the succulent like leaves of the moss.
Edibility
Untreated, the liquid in the leaves is not safe to drink, as this can lead to cramps, vomiting and diarrhea.
When boiled for a few minutes, the leaves as a whole are safe to consume and have a slightly sweet taste.
The black and brown berries growing between the moss are edible as well and a good source of hydration as well.
Uses
Gazari Moss can be used to treat wounds. When put on open cuts or burns, the Moss has a soothening effect and can speed up the healing process. It is also excellent when cleaning of a wound is needed.
Some
Taka Ma'rat from the
Gazeranfolk claim that a padding of Gazari Moss in your clothes can possibly protect the wearer from the effects of the magic drain - enabling someone to build upo at least some magical energy during the day.
The liquid from the leaves can be extracted, boiled and then consumed cold - it will have an energizing effect for a short time.
Many people report of an adverse effect afterwards, where they feel slightly exhausted and less able to channel magic for a while.
The liquid can be thickened into a syrp, which then can be used in food as ingredient. It has a slightly sweet taste and spicy smell and is the manin ingredient of the
Moss-Sirup-Glazed Skewer.
It sounds like magic drain is an issue in your world, making this a very useful plant indeed. Ironically, it reminded me of coffee in its ability to energize and then drain...
