Fellowship of the Paper

General Summary

The following is an excerpt from Rutik Kapuscinski's newsletter in the Treeleaf Times from Month 8, Week 4, Year 931:
The adventuring world is full of surprises, and this week offered such a reminder when a team of freelance adventurers retrieved a powerful magic artifact from under the noses of Pescaliat's most powerful adventuring guilds. Ruins dating back to age of the Old Myltev empire were recently uncovered in the Kelethian Woods of Gameth, with multiple groups like Chusei University and the Gilded Hecat Guild quickly setting up camps around the site to explore its interior. Helm's Devoted were present to keep the peace and prevent any evil entities from escaping the ruins, but apparently one guard was less careful in reviewing the letters of certifications from the freelancers.
"A group of nobodies interfered with our research, stealing a modron right from under our noses!" said a dragonborn member of Chusei University's Special Research Division. "We tried chasing them back to the centeral chambers but by the time we arrived they were gone along with the modron and that gavel."
The gavel in question appears to be an artifact used by the archmage Afron Egorov, capable of banishing any creature back to their home plane. An item of such power would fetch a high price on any market, but so far it hasn't been spotted anywhere since it vanished from the ruins. There have been reliable rumors that the Handgun were present at the ruins when the gavel disappeared, so I am sure they will not be pleased that an item of such value escaped their grasp.
This recent escapade proves that adventuring continues to be an unpredictable profession, even as larger organizations have started to regulate and oversee most adventurers throughout Pescaliat. I will try to collect more information on this so-called Fellowship of the Paper, whether they join a larger group or continue to brave the world on their own remains to be seen.
