CoS Session 6: Pirates, Krakens, and Reckless Theft
General Summary
10/1/873
- The Voyage to Trecce aboard Cpt. Elvira's ship The Manta
- Eight crew members are on board, it’s a two-month journey
- Roland purchases a medicine kit in Gameria, crafts a couple of healing potions and a paralyzing oil for his great sword.
- Catriona paints some landscapes of the sea and goes on a few dates with Ronaldo (one of the younger sailors)
- Aldo decides to steal some items from the ship's cargo
- By some miracle, he convinces Cpt. Elvira to give him the keys to the locked-off storeroom (incredibly, he rolled two nat 20's with disadvantage!)
- So Aldo breaks into the valuables section, steals some pieces of jewelry, and returns the keys
- One day, pirates attack The Manta!
- Cpt. Tarkov tries boarding the ship with two of his pirates
- Fighting ensues, Catriona sets Tarkov’s ship on fire with a well-placed 'Fireball' attack
- Roland drop-kicks Tarkov into the sea with his great axe's divine smite
- Tarkov escapes back to his burning ship, but he abandons a young pirate named Nikolaj Baratov aboard The Manta
- The party convinces young pirate Nikolaj to put down arms and he's thrown in the ship's brig
- Catriona paints him, learns more about how he was forced to work for Cpt. Tarkov when all over job opportunities dried up in his small town
- Since the punishment for piracy in Sardivelia is death, Catriona promises to vouch for Nikolaj once they make it to Trecce
- Trecce's finally on the horizon!
- The City of Bridges with thousands of lanterns glowing in the distance
- Cpt. Elvira orders the party to join her for dinner
- She reveals that four pieces of jewelry are missing from the ship's storeroom, accuses party of theft
- Ronaldo vouches for Catriona, Roland convinces Elvira to calm down and give the party time to find the jewelry
- Back in their, Roland forces Aldo to give him back the jewelry
- They’ll return it to Elvira before they land
- Suddenly, a Kraken attacks the ship
- The creature's eyes glow with the same bluish-yellowish light of the Court of the Undying
- The party rushes back above board to make it to the ship's lifeboats, dodging wreckage and massive tentacles along the way
- Ship is in ruins after a couple minutes, Aldo and Catriona get slammed by tentacles
- Roland tosses jewelry onto ship deck, grapples Aldo into boat
- The party escapes, and the ship gets crumpled up and dragged beneath the sea
- Three crew members died, and Nikolaj drowned in the ship's brig
- Elvira and Ronaldo survive
- Aldo pisses her off by trying to frame one of her crew members for theft
- They row in the dark for Trecce, hours pass
- A lavishly bedecked ship appears in the distance, lowers a ladder for the party
