Tuath Chynràr
Culturally distinct from the rest of the Weryniad, the peoples of the Hinterland have a long history of antagonism with their Heartlander neighbors. Small scale wars between the various nations of the Northern Hinterland and the Weryniad were commonplace for centuries prior to the Wars of Unification, many of them sparked by Weryn slave-raids. Though it is illegal to enslave citizens of the Weryniad, Hinterlanders share many cultural traits with the Daoine, and are easy to pass off as foreigners -- and thus fair game. Formal investigations demanded by the Hinterlanders have failed to produce solid evidence against slaver-companies committing this crime for centuries.
Once a rag-tag alliance of the peoples of Hinterlands, the Tuath Chynràr has crystallized into a nation thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of Mòr , the reigning Conn, and the late Tëgryn, Aoife. Choosing the Adarian for their banner, they united against their common foe and resolved to fight for their freedom.
The Tuath Chynràr sits upon rapidly shifting ground. Since declaring their independence from the Weryniad during a particularly vicious succession struggle, they have faced a numerically and logistically superior foe. Maeven Brynn consolidated her power over The Weryniad far swifter than expected, and she brought a great host and war fleet to assail the fledgling Tuath Chynràr from the North rather than the South. Both the The Llian and Tëgryn homelands have already fallen, and her armies run rampant through The Colmòr, burning any settlements they come across. Balsgiath has fallen, leaving the clan-holts of the Grýmoran isolated, and Maeven Brynn advances.
