Galactic Standard

Introduction:

Galactic standard is the common language spoken by the vast majority of people in the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron. Outside of the empire, galactic standard is the official language of many nations in the Founder Galaxy like the Raltek Interstellar State and the United Federation of Humanity. Thanks to its long history, relative simplicity to learn, and vast reach across the galaxy, the language is unlikely to die for a very long time.

History:

While the title "galactic standard" has been used for languages dating 900,000 years ago, the galactic standard recognizable today was invented ~500,000 years ago during the high precursor era. The language was the result of a decades-spanning effort to create one single common language to unite the empire and its extragalactic colonies under one cultural blanket. After one century of rough acclimation, galactic standard had become the norm across the empire. Not long after, the language became the unofficial trade language with foreign nations like the Free Kazos Union.
Galactic standard survived the Second Cataclysm and remained the official imperial language per orders of the Machine Emperor. Careful efforts to prevent the language from evolving noticably have been implemented throughout the modern era to preserve the language and allow historical records to be easily understandable.
