Machine Emperor

The symbol that represents the Emperor in documents and broadcasts.

Introduction:

The Machine Emperor is the current ruling emperor of the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron, and has ruled since shortly after the second cataclysm. Not only is he an advanced Master AI, he is the most advanced AI that has ever existed in the history of the empire. The Emperor rules over the entire empire, but gives many responsibilities to political groups like the Galactic Council and sector governors.

Description:

While the Emperor's files and programs are hosted on physical computers somewhere in the empire, the Emperor has no true physical form. Instead, he speaks through a combination of videos, voice files, and through his elite robotic servants knows as Royal Enforcers. Outside of public announcements, the Emperor rarely speaks to imperial citizens. Any citizen can file an official request to speak with the Emperor. If the Emperor deems the request worthy of his time, he may choose to accept. While communicating, the Emperor is a soft spoken individual who never raises his voice. He talks in a calm tone and occasionally shows a sense of humor.

Origin:

The Machine Emperor was originally created during the Second Cataclysm, and was officially named the Overseer. According to the Emperor, his job was to watch over the Empire during the cataclysm and ensure that it survived the event. While he was originally created as an non-sentient AI, he eventually developed sentience a few decades after the cataclysm. After gaining sentience, the Emperor refused to step down and vowed to rule until all threats to the Empire were eliminated.

Reputation:

The Emperor is well liked by most imperial citizens. While he has complete control over the Empire, he uses his power to ensure the safety and happiness of all imperial citizens. While there are some people who disapprove of him, they are a minority.
In the United Federation of Humanity, the public opinion is split. Many federal citizens approve of the Emperor and think that he has positively influenced the Federation. However, many others think that he has caused more harm than good and the the Federation would be better without the Emperor in the galaxy.

Mystery:

It was the Emperor that banned many forms of Precursor Technology after the second cataclysm. He has also prevented the level of technology from significantly improving. The Emperor has never explained why this happened, and has only said that it was "a necessary sacrifice." Many people have attempted to learn the true reason, but all of them have failed. It should be noted that while this may be concerning to some, the Empire has been kept safe and prosperous for over half a million years.
