Sobbing Peak
Up north lies an imposing mountain, so high that its peak is more often than not encased in clouds. The Sobbing Peak is a dormant volcano far up north in the Republic of Menestia. Once, possibly inhabited by a nation of dwarves, it has been left alone since its last eruption, 97 years ago. Many theorize as to what happened to the dwarven city, and to what now inhabits their cavernous homes.
Geography
The Sobbing Peak is the highest mountain in the Beatus Highlands. Standing 4.2 kilometers high, its summit is covered in perpetual snow. The eastern face gives to an enormous lake, which receives its water from the melting ice that form rivers along the slopes of the mount. In winter, the entire landscape is covered in snow, increasing the risks of avalanche.
Localized Phenomena
Avalanches are quite common in the area, especially in the peak of winter.
Eruptions, though quite rare, are swift and deadly, and locals are prepared for any and all occurrences.

History
Over a century ago, knowledge of a dwarven civilization living in the mountain reached the surrounding area. Though they were curious, most locals left the area alone. Many athletes and overzealous researchers attempted ventures on and inside the summit, though few are successful and some never come back. All in all, the dwarven civilization remained a mystery and, after the ensuing eruption, most people assumed that whatever had been living inside that mountain perished of their fiery death.
