Tunnels of Infinity

The Tunnels of Infinity, more commonly referred to simply as headquarters or base, are an old and seemingly abandoned underground structure. Rooted partly through the Galm mountains and the flatter lands surrounding it, the Tunnels run near Falcidanum, though they predate the city.   First rediscovered by the Sect of the Serpent, who used them to house the fledgling Society of Infinity, it quickly turned out that the structure were far more extensive and complex than they had expected. Before long, the Sect lost the ability to track the Society inside their home, especially once said group began intentionally blocking off some hallways and opening up others. As a result, the Sect has a vague idea of where the Society of Infinity hides, but not enough to find them.   Of course, the Tunnels offer more to the Society than just safety from their unknown creators. The hallways and rooms within the structure, all solidly built despite their age, were quickly repurposed, allowing the Society to inhabit them in surprising comfort. As the group grew, so did their ability to work the tunnels, expanding them and adding more rooms suited to their needs.

Purpose / Function

Though its original purpose (and creator) has been lost to time, it currently houses the Society of Infinity. They have expanded the existing structure, adding more hallways and rooms to house their numbers, and to suit their specific needs.

Alterations

The Society has expanded greatly on the existing tunnels, adding countless more rooms to house their ever-increasing numbers, but also more and larger common rooms, including some with specific purposes they felt were missing. The biggest of their alterations was their tapping into the Chasm of Infinity, which they have since integrated into the tunnel-system. By building rooms which access the chasm, be it via doorways or just open windows, allows the inhabiting dragons to freely access fresh air and sunlight. Space along the chasm walls has mostly been used for shared rooms, such as dining halls and training rooms, but also for farms.

Defenses

The primary defense for the Tunnels is their hidden nature. Laid underground and a little ways away from the nearest city, they're almost impossible to find if one even knows they're there. And even if found, the sprawling nature of the tunnels make them hard to navigate, with the least confusing parts being the deepest parts of the structure, around the Chasm. The Chasm itself is located in already inaccessible mountains, and thus almost impossible to get to, never mind to then climb down them to access the Tunnels.

History

Although unknown to the Society of Infinity, and even more so to the Sect of the Serpent, the Tunnels of Infinity were first built by Auhir and, to lesser degree, Apeiron. One of many structures built by the deities, where they could exist without notice from the people that roam their world, it went unused for a long time in favor of different structures as Auhir traveled. Imagine their surprise when they returned to find that others had moved in while they were absent.

Crystals

The most recognizable part of the Tunnels of Infinity is also the most hidden: the original structure is littered with glowing crystals, sometimes growing as big--or bigger--than full-grown dragons. In the hallways and tunnels they tend to be rather small, casting just enough light for people to see by, but some rooms house enough crystals large enough to illuminate them fully.   Though initially useful as a source of light, experimentation soon showed that the crystals had a far more powerful use. Harvested into Infinity Crystals, they could be used as a seemingly infinite source of magic for enchantments. Without these crystals, the characteristic Familiars of the Society couldn't exist.
