Úxúat Shrubs
Znagrúkic: Avhúke /avhuːkhɛː/
Kúxic: Úxúat /uksuaːth/
Exic: Exatt /ɛksaːht/
Úxúat shrubs1 are hardy, annual plants native to Darlaa, the western region of the Múlíat Mountains in southern Dragonía, and through trade and cultivation have spread southward to Hrax as well. The shrubs produce white and orange flowers along with pods containing distinct black-and-green beans.
Much like Úrg Trees, they are used by different sapient species for various things, with the avian Kúxes being the first to domesticate the plant for food, which the ovine Hyrríans later adopted, and are now one of the main crops throughout the Znagrúk Empire, as the shrubs are resistant to droughts, can grow in poor soil and require minimal care.
Úxúat beans are mainly used in stews and soups by both Kúxes and Znagrúks, while Hyrríans prefer them dried and also incorporate the flowers into certain dishes.
The Gobíl Kóhans on the other hand, being carnivores, neither farm úxúat beans nor use them for cooking, but as fodder for their sheep and Sjerg Antelopes. The pods, however, are valued for their anti-inflammatory properties, and the medicine derived from them is highly sought after by the Krekkúxes and Óraxes in the Sjorg Desert to the west.
