Geography
The Core exists at the center of the planet, with two large vents at the poles. It provides the primary warmth for the planet. It can function as a potentially-limitless power source, more powerful than many other sources of power. Exposure to Core energy can sometimes manifest powers for people with certain genes receptive to it. For others, exposure can lead to paralysis or death.
The Jumpers are responsible for the protection of the Core. Prior to the Purge, this protection involved keeping outside forces and the governments of TGC from stealing or abusing the power, but after seeing the affects of unchecked exposure, this protection increased to preventing individuals from accessing the Core without extensive checks. Most people with access are fellow Jumpers (regularly reevaluated as needed to prevent another disaster), although occasionally research groups are allowed in for brief periods of time.
There are five total access points to reach the Core: One at each pole, one on Heidia, one under the Great Tree, and one at the crater in Agesia, created during the Cryergy War. The countries with access points fiercely guard these entrances. The poles, meanwhile, vent so much energy that they create a barren field around them, killing most that get too close and forcing those who survive away.
