Rotherham

This "mining" community is in the Bronze Canyon and is a part of the Empire of Adhotron. The Village is built into the side of the Canyon walls and goes deep into the ground. As the mines continue to dig deeper the village encroaches into the old mines. It grew above the river that goes through this deep canyon and was based on the mines as the precious metals and stones were mined. It still has many Copper and Tin veins which is the main resource mined here with it then turned into Bronze in the village.

Demographics

Size The city of Rotherham covers an area of approximately 706 acres, with a total population of 42 thousand people.

Racial Demographics

Rotherham is comprised of mostly Tabaxi (35%), Goblins (10%), Dwarves (15%), Gnomes (10%), Humans (10%), Leonin (5%), Aarakocra (2%), Kenku (1.5%), as the majority, with all types of other races.

Religious Demographics

There is no local deity, most races stick to the traditional deities for the most part. Due to the high Tabaxi population Bast would be one of the most prominent deities honored here.

Government

They are a matriarchal capitalist oligarchic absolute monarchy. The people of Rotherham work in exchange for payment from their employers, which they use to buy the necessities.

Economics

Trade is rather free in Rotherham, and people live a modest existence because of it. There are few taxes, and there is little regulation from the authorities on what merchants can and cannot sell. Welfare is average. Citizens can find an education, provided they can pay for it. Healthcare is overtaxed and underfunded, and the government hides behind layers of bureaucracy to dodge complaints.

Law and Order

The policing presence in Rotherham is a militia; the guards of The Gauntlet of Rotherham are part time, and there is rarely any need for the use of force. Law breakers are judged by community tribunals. Law in Rotherham is somewhat reform-based, and those that breach the laws can expect hard labor, incarceration, or fines. The death penalty is typically reserved for traitors to the state. Magic is treated with suspicion, and guards look for any excuse to put a magic user away behind bars.
