Journal from Jacoby about Shadowfell Well
A journal that discussed the Shadowfell Well & and the making of Chardalyn and other things...
This fort was part of the old Kampos Alliance, and after the fall of the last Great King it became private property. They contracted with the Elder and helped guard this part of the forest.
Then stories came out of bad deeds being done. The last anyone ever spoke about the keep was how it was taken over by the last remnants of the Free Lords Alliance that was still residing in The Dark Rain Forest.
Since then it has been abandoned, but it seems Jacoby (and the Arcane Order) were aware of the one who once resided here. Malachi Trakibu, an eccentric wizard not seen in hundreds of years. He had found the strange obelisk, went mad studying it. He created a well that existed both in the Shadowfell and the Material Plane.
He learned that one could manufacture Chardalyn with the well. A string fabricated of a thin filament of Gold entwined with the hairs of certain exotic Beasts and dipped in a magic glue and crushed Diamond dust. A ritual is performed then the strings were dropped in the well.
From there one must only wait -- and be prepared to fight any evil creatures that may wander in from the Shadowfell side of the Well. After about a month one could find some sizeable pieces of Chardalyn.
The notes go on about how one can take Chardalyn and possibly create Residuum .
This would require taking the Chardalyn and infusing it with Focal Stone, Dweomerflow, and then any 5th level spell (must use a slot, no ritual casting of the spell) with an amount of Residuum worth at least 10,000 gp (about the size of a gold coin)
This will turn the Chardalyn into a large 5 lb. egg-shaped whitestone with green flecks. Add some acid and you can distill a pound of pure Residuum.
It seems he is planning on making a ton of residuum, but is missing the amount necessary to kick start this. Once you have residuum it is possible to make more, generally with magic items -- but this process allows another way that may be less expensive (in the long run).

It also seems that Residuum is somewhat similar to the crystals growing on Outding Refuge, yet it doesn't seem as if that could be Residuum. Also, there seems to be spell out there, Disenchant Magic Item, which allows you to turn a magic item into Residuum. That Residuum can then be used as a replacement for a cost-incured spell component or with the other lost spell, Enchant Magic item, to create a new magic item.There were many Documents found under Abandoned Keep in Kampos
They are under Jacoby's bed at the keep. It has been a few days. Solec is with them. As they come out - Jeets is at the desk searching it. He sees thme "I see you came back. We finished clearing out the tunnels. Clearing out the topside. We found a person -- she says she knows you. Did you find any journals from Jacoby?" [/aloud] They give him the Journals. Barlo and Shadow use cat running and they go upstairs. It is early evening before sunset. Teeka is tied up. There are heads of goblins on pikes out front. A pile of bodies being burned.
