The Great Southern Wastes

Legend tells of a vast, never-ending expanse of white beyond the Tenebris Forest. Some have braved the forest in search of this place, but few have ever returned. Those who have come back have been stricken blind, mad or both by some unknown force. Some of them speak of nothing but white snow and eternal night, others describe brilliant colors flashing through the sky or fields of blood red grass.
Attempts have been made to sail around it, but faced with frigid seas, thick mists and enormous icebergs, no ship has been able to successfully find a southern passage. Many have disappeared, assumed claimed by the sea.
There has not been an expedition here in centuries, and there seems to be nothing that could be gained from an expedition other than pure knowledge. Only the rumor of treasure remains to tempt some adventurers who are brave, or foolhardy enough to attempt the journey.

Geography

Thought to be a great flat plain, forever covered in ice. Some have sworn that they saw ancient cities buried under the ice, gleaming with precious metals and jewels. Perhaps a great city stood here once, but sank into the sea and was covered by this thick expanse of ice.

Fauna & Flora

Ghosts, demons, hags, and worse things are rumored to dwell here. Great wolves of ice and snow have been reported, the pets of enormous, white skinned men. Ferocious, enormous white bears have also been reported, as well as some bizarre bird-fish hybrids.

Natural Resources

Thought to have been formerly part of the Tenebris Forest, flattened and made barren by the terrible giants who live there. It is unknown if the giants harvested and used the great timbers, or if these, like so many other things, remain buried beneath the ice.
