Hostaolië Organization in Derkomai | World Anvil

Hostaolië

For nearly 6000 years, the Hostaolië (the Collectors, in Sudkou) have gathered remnants of the Human landing ships from the time of The Fall from the Stars. Only they, along with Edan, know with certainty the truth behind the legends and myths.

Structure

The Hostaolië has no real structure. It is headed by the Heru Númenost in Ostnúmenoron, but all Elvirim elders are instructed to gather fragments of the Human ships of metal, especially those that are complex, containing pieces of glass, combinations of metals, and other strange materials not seen elsewhere on Derkomai. If an Elvirim acquires a fragment, it is sent to Ostnúmenoron; though sometimes, it must pass through many hands before reaching there.

Culture

Because the Elvirim are not nearly so naturally curious as Humans, the Safirim of the Nop Derk Safir has chosen to make use of them to gather the fragments of technology left from The Fall from the Stars, keeping them out of Human hands as much as possible.

Public Agenda

The Hostaolië is a secret organization of the Elvirim. Only the Heru Númenost in Ostnúmenoron and his few hand-picked assistants know that the organization exists or of the underground vault below Taras Númenost holding thousands of fragments of Human technology.

History

On a day nearly 6000 years prior to the present, a vessel like a ship made of metal fell from the sky near Ostnúmenoron into the mountains. Many of the Elvirim of Ostnúmenoron witnessed the fall and some went to investigate. Seeing the vessel crashed into the mountainside, the Elvirim found in the crashed ship many strange people, all dead, similar to Elvirim but somewhat larger on average, with skin of all colors from dark brown to nearly white, hair that was curled, straight, long, short, white, shades of brown, black, and even orange. They all had in common, though, short, rounded ears, like a Corima Hlaru Elvirim.   The Elvirim buried all of the strange people, dedicating them to Eia’au. Of the remnants of their ship of metal, the Elvirim gathered what they could, storing it in an enormous vault under Taras Númenost, the fortress and tower of the Heru Númenost, leader of Ostnúmenoron.   The secret ancient histories of the Hostaolië say that the Heru Númenost was later visited by a Balim of Valamarashe, Safirim of the Nop Derk Safir. The Balim told the Heru Númenost that other ships of metal had fallen from the stars onto Derkomai, and that some of the strange people, called Human, had survived the fall. However, the powers and knowledge of the Humans was anathema, forbidden from being pursued or practiced anywhere in the world. The Heru Númenost was charged with collecting the remnants of the Human ships of metal. And so, the Elvirim organization known as the Hostaolië (the Collectors) was formed.   The Hostaolië has never formally disbanded; though, it is not so active as it once was. After nearly 6000 years, most all of the fragments of forbidden Human technology that can be found, have been. There are some bits that remain, like the The Treasure of Daskar, but as they are usually just metal, albeit sometimes very unusual metal, they are not in violation of the Praxis Illicitus.
