Splice Species in Dawn of Others | World Anvil

Splice

Their genes are mixed with that of another animal, so much so that they have acquired specific unique skills based upon that creature. This can manifest physically as well, with minor expressions of the splice. Unlike an animyst, which began as an animal and was transformed into something able to manipulate tools and possess intelligence, a splice is a genetically human altered to possess traits from various animals. A splice could be born this way or underwent an infection and emerged with the traits developing as a result.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They generally present with a human appearance, but have traits that are from their animal splice. Each splice has a different presentation of animal traits, but each of them have something that marks them as being different than Humans.

Biological Traits

For game purposes, this sub race will follow all of the rules in the Ultramodern 5 Redux source book for the Splice race.

Behaviour

It is also common for the Slice to take on behavioral traits of the animal that they are sliced with. This might be the sleeping pattern of a nocturnal animal or the dietary prefrences might shift to reflect their animal nature. It could also be that they simply move their bodies in a manner that is more like the animal rather then human.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

the splice are not as readily hunted as other kinds of Others. Their mutations are less dramatic and are often unremarkable when removed from the human form they were attached to. Additionally, their being of animal nature, many do not feel they are bizarre as the Altered or frightening as the Tuners.

Now it is up to us to decide.
We must Make ourselves.
We must reform Humanity.
