Great Reef Wars

The wars started because of two merfolk from different kingdoms were unable to get along. Both sides lashed out at one another, and they soon tried to bring the other kingdoms in, so that they could gain ground on destroying each other. It didn't take long before King Narin Bitterfoam stepped forward and created the Sorrel Kingdom, where he tried his hardest to come up with a solution to stop all the bloodshed in the waters of the world.
Of all the races that lived in the oceans and seas, none had it quite figured out like Narin. He chose to have a council elected to help him run things smoother while he was off in battles or away on official business for the kingdom. Narin sought out a way to keep the Great Reef Wars from eaching the shores of Chymoús. The only way to ensure that nobody else got hurt was that Narin created a treaty with each of the 30 underwater kingdoms that when the time came, the next in line would be engaged to one of royal children of another kingdom that was not up for the throne. Of course, this forced Narin to wed a nereid to produce an heir for his throne.
