The first qualification for an alchemist is a love for science. Enjoying what you do ensures that you are doing your work with enthusiasm and not trudging through it. It also helps you keep your mind on track of what is safe or not.
The second qualification is intelligence. A smart alchemist knows what is safe and when something should not be followed until certain precautions are made. It also helps to know you are doing in the first place.
The third qualification is determination. An alchemist must always be able to get back up on their feet when an experiment has gone wrong, such as exploding in their face.
Benefits
Loud and wild explosions? Discovering new elements? Creating new and precious metals? That is just a fraction of what benefits an alchemist gains. They also get the chance to live a fairly comfortable life with the money they earn, allowing them to pay for medical insurance in case an experiment goes awry.
Purpose
Alchemists are tasked with creating new toxins, potions, and other concotions that can be used in the war. They are also responsible for creating new elements and prescious metals for whatever inventions the engineers are creating for the war.
Any unofficial tasks are given in secret by a noble or the
Tepes-Cheonsa family. These tasks usually result in alchemists creating toxins and potions for personal reasons. Sometimes, unofficial tasks can even be personal for the alchemist, such as
Michanikós Klóstis containing an itch of revenge against
shapeshifters for the creation of
cystisoma ritusious.
Social Status
For commoners, getting the role of an alchemist can be daunting as education is almost impossible for them to get. The higher one is as a common (such as upper middle-class), the easier it is to gain an education and then become an alchemist.
As for the nobility, the higher their ranks are, they further they are from having the chance to pursue alchemy. Though they revere an alchemist's talents as something short of divine.
In some kingdoms or countries, alchemists are reviled due to their unholy use of world around them. For example, those of the
Moonlight Expanse see alchemy as a taboo, damaging the very beauty and magick of the world by taking natural elements and contorting them to something else.
Tools
All alchemists use alchemist kits, which contains a mortar and pestle, vials, flasks, measuring spoons, chemicals, and various poison extracts from different plants, objects, and animals.

Usually, a laboratory is needed to perform this profession, but you can easily find an alchemist outside every once in a while if their experiments require a more "open space." Inside a laboratory, you can find a table covered in science equipment, such as flasks, beakers, tubes, and vials.
Hazards & Dangers
Hazards usually include chemical spills, explosions, and noxious gases. In such instances, when these things happen, the alchemist is expected to perform a certain number of protocols to make sure the area is safe for both themself and whoever else comes by. With chemical spills, the alchemist runs the risk of either an explosion or noxious gas happening. Sometimes, a type of acid can be spilled, which raises the dangers of the area to higher level.
