The Crimson Veil

Having originated from an undercity call house of the same name, the Crimson Veil are one of the major gangs of the cities underhive. Their success appears to have grown from the diplomatic capabilities of their members and the subtle use of the many secrets such a business would find.
As the war effort worsened above, the Veil took action in order to ensure the people of the underhive remained safe, gathering capable workers to set up defences, moving families deeper into the hive to keep them safe and, eventually, joining forces with the Steelhooks in order to establish an impromptu militia in case the underhive was breached.
Though this final stand never came, the work put forward by the Veil and the Steelhooks became local law, and the two gangs became the leaders of the many underfolk that had joined them.

Becoming the Law

The Veil grabbed at the chance to become leaders within the city, allowing their control over the area to grow their numbers, weaken their enemies and entrench themselves into their territory. The rules put in place by the Veil were always framed as some way to aid the residents around them, while also ensuring it got them one step further to complete rule.
Efforts continued to improve the lives of the local residents, with the lessened population, less runoff and detritus was flooding their homes, and as such the streets of the underhive began to be improved. Narcotics dealers became impromptu medics, bouncers and heavies becoming local police forces, and locals were trained in the basics of construction in order to aid in the growing number of civilians now entering the underhive. As this growth continued, so too did the resources available to the Veil, and within a few years their significant resources allowed their followers to strike out of the underhive and reclaim the lost and forgotten habs above them.
Today, the Crimson Veil have claimed an entire hab sector for themselves, referred to as "Veil's Canopy". Having established themselves as one of the most respected and powerful gangs in the hive, those above fear that breaking the vagabonds from their new holdings may be too difficult to currently achieve.

Imperial Teachings

Many suspect that the reasons for the Veils drive to aid those around them is because they have been converted by their new leader, a veteran imperial priest known as Father Fuqu. While their actions have turned to aid those around them, the illicit activities the gang undertakes are still lead by the Father, causing many to question his conviction and faith to allow such immoral actions to be undertaken under his watch.
Some have also questioned if the father retains faith in the Emperor at all, with many having accused the priest of having fallen to the Ruinous Powers, an accusation the father violently abhors.

One-sided hostilities

The Crimson Veil have made efforts to establish an alliance with the PDF in exchange for aid. Thus far, these efforts have failed. The PDF continue to try and eradicate all hive gangs, Crimson Veil included.
