Perfect for celebrating Duck Sum Upping

Duck Buns are a pretty recent invention which have gained popularity over the last few decades, especially in Ashilder. They are buns shaped vaguely like ducks, with eyes and a beak made out of kernels or nuts.

You can get the duck buns at many different street stalls during the Duck Sum Upping, but the ones near the main square are definitely the best!

A popular snack

Duck buns have existed in different variations for around a century, with many families having their own versions of the bird shaped breads. Earlier versions show more pigeon like shaped bread, which weren't neccesarily formed like a bun. However, after becoming a popular event-food connected to Duck Sum Upping, their general look have become more streamlined.

The Anka's and their Duck Buns

The first itteration of the bun sold during the Duck Sum Upping in Vatnsil was made by a local baker named Linn Anka and sold by his wife Netti in a street stall. Due to this, Duck Buns are also sometimes called Anka Buns.

At first, Netti Anka sold these buns as they were, and they were an instant hit.
Especially the local kids were very enarmoured with the cute buns and would beg their parents for one.

Ah yes, duck buns! They were my favourite as a kid, I'd always have my parents biy them from mrs. Netti.

However, after a few years, a competitor stall began selling delicious filled breads, and that took away some of the customers. Netti decided that she too could sell bread with fillings. From then on, Netti would sell the Duck Buns cut in half and filled with salad and usually some meat and the Anki Buns would once again shoot to popularity.
