Safflet Estern

A very small farming settlement located around a minuscule daylight wellspring. A hamlet under the larger town of Saffron.   The hamlet is almost entirely self sufficient thanks to their location around a very small wellspring, although it is frequently attacked by creatures from The Dark.

Demographics

Almost entirely made up of working class, as the family themselves still work on the farms too. The family is made up of humans, elves, and half elves, and the workers vary wildly in species. A good portion of the workers are also Nailux Ghouls.   The definition of the workers range anywhere from farmhands, guards, cooks, and even childminders for the children of other workers and the original family.

Government

The settlement is run by the founding family, made up of about 15 humans, elves, and half elves. The family organises with other members of the community ways to run the farms, and works like a democracy. Most of the other members of the population were initially hired on as workers to this family, so to outsiders the settlement looks as though it works like a factory in hierarchy.

Industry & Trade

Estern mainly works in the farming of Voluxi Beetles and a small amount of crop farming, which mostly functions to feed the residents and the beetles.

Infrastructure

There are very few actual houses in Estern, with a majority of them being workhouses and bunks, as to save on daylight. The eating areas are communal, and a fair few of them are outdoors. Many other buildings are solely farming structures such as barns or warmhouses.

History

A relatively recent settlement, as the original members of the family that settled the farm are still alive, however the human woman is now elderly and cannot work on the farm.   The children on the original couple and their resulting families now run and organise the settlement.

Architecture

Mostly made out of wood with stone foundations. The community buildings are mostly localised around one side of the wellspring, and smaller living quarters are found further away.

Geography

Very flat plains.
