Dank Dopths

This land has been in darkness for as long as anyone can remember - even the most ancient folk do not know of a time when daylight could be found in the sky.   And from this darkness monsters come, abominations from shade and shadow, warped figures who could have once been people. Few things ward the monsters off - daylight and songs, and even the ever rare and coveted moonlight - and they are relentless in their madness toward townsfolk. But the people survive, collected in many covered cities as well as vulnerable and exposed pockets out in the darkness. Perhaps they covet a daylight wellspring, keeping the everlasting light to themselves, or maybe they are just vigilant and furiously independent.   The world grew into routine and monotony - while horrifying and stressful the patterns the monsters fell into grew predictable and civilians were able to relax.   And this is where our campaign would start - at the very beginning of the end. Perhaps just running an errand that leads to another errand, that leads to a mission, that leads to a discovery.   A discovery that might upend the world as they know it.
