Revival Magic in Daënfel
When a creature perishes, their soul quickly passes from the mortal realms to the Life Stream, joining the Cycle under the watchful eye of The Green Knight.
For a spellcaster or adventurer looking to revive a fallen ally, there is a 60 second window after a person dies where they can be revived again through magical means before Avlar and the other cosmic servants of Death claim the soul.
Once a minute has passed, the process of revival becomes severely more complicated. The Green Knight and Avlar, The God-King do not readily return the souls of the fallen to this world - not without an incredibly compelling reason to do so.
Powerful clerics can conduct long, incredibly intensive rituals to give a mortal the opportunity to plead their case to the Gods, allowing a chance for those dear to the departed soul to request their return. This ritual is very expensive however, and should only be conducted when there are no other alternatives remaining. Even finding a cleric powerful enough to conduct the ritual is a rarity indeed.
A soul may linger in the everflowing Life Stream for an indefinite amount of time, before The Arbiter sows that soul anew again in the world. Once a soul has been 'reincarnated' in this way, it is impossible for their former life or body to be resurrected.
