Knight-in-Command
The Knight-in-Command is the leader and supervisor of the Knights, and therefore one of the most prominent figures in Nova City. Love or hate, everybody knows who the Commander is and how they're impacting the city.
"The commanding Knight is essentially in charge of the world's largest military group."

Requirements
Naturally, only a Knight may become the Knight-in-Command, but they must meet two additional requirements. They must have served the organization for at least five years and completed at least thirty contracts before they can become the Knight-in-Command.
Appointment
Once a Knight meets the requirements, they can challenge the current Commander to fight in ritual combat. Alternatively, if NovaCorp is unsatisfied with the current Commander, they sometimes pay another Knight to challenge them. The winner of the ritual combat, a one-on-one fight until one party either dies or surrenders, becomes the Knight-in-Command. The other Knights, representatives from NovaCorp, and a few select civilians make up the audience of this fight. There are no rules. I've never seen inside the battle arena, but once, the combatants ended up punching a hole through the building and duking it out in the streets.
"Shame nobody challenges the Commander very often. Ritual combat is fun to watch. Really brings the Knights together.

Responsibilities
Order
The Knight-in-Command creates and enforcers rules for the rest of the Knights to follow. They must also ensure that Knights are appropriately punishing civilians who violate NovaCorp's laws. Kindness isn't a thing these guys believe in.
Relations
Knights work closely with NovaCorp and sin traders, so the Knight-in-Command is responsible for maintaining these relationships, which secures funding and contracts for the Knights. I wonder what would happen if they just...had a huge disagreement and stopped being friends.
Goals
The future of the Knights is determined by the Knight-in-Command. They set the work atmosphere and goals for the entire organization. A lax Commander means a lax military force, and NovaCorp is not likely to approve of this behavior. Cruelty has no tolerance for laziness.
Benefits
The Knight-in-Command gets their pick of high-end contracts, and is usually heavily compensated by NovaCorp for their work. They also work directly with NovaCorp's CEO, and if the CEO likes them, they'll get additional benefits, such as fancy housing in the upper city, political favors, access to high-quality food and healthcare, and education for any children they may have. A good Knight-in-Command will become just as well-known and just as feared as the NovaCorp CEO.
