New Liberty
A second iteration of the Liberty on Earth, New Liberty can only be described as a Utopia. Protected from environmental hazards by massive walls and sonic barriers, its streets are clean and the buildings well kept. The capital city is effectively the perfect city, at least on Eternity. Protected by vast networks of sonic barriers and walls, citizens of New Liberty enjoy a life of safety and luxury. It has well maintained roads and tunnel networks, public areas filled with green and elegant, utilitarian buildings and housing for trillions of people. Since its founding in 3356, New Liberty has been a major center for international politics, becoming a polyglot home for numerous Federation organizations, politicians, diplomats and civil servants. New Liberty hosts a number of Federation institutions including the Federal Assembly, the Olympus Council and the Office of the Supreme Chancellor. New Liberty’s unique legal and administrative position within the United Federation of Nations grants the Olympus Council exclusive jurisdiction over the region and the authority to review and overturn all locally created laws.
The region hosts hundreds of foreign embassies as well as the headquarters for many international organizations, trade unions, non-profit organizations, and lobbying groups.
Government
New Liberty’s unique legal and administrative position within the United Federation of Nations grants the Olympus Council exclusive jurisdiction over the region and the authority to review and overturn all locally created laws.
Infrastructure
New Liberty can be recognized by its numerous skyscrapers and it is easy to see the various phases of development that have shaped the image of it’s downtown. In total there are at thousands of towers at least 2000m or higher, the tallest of these is the Templin-Keppe Center at 12,409m. The city has become famous for it's many museums, historical sites and memorials, in particular the Federation Archives. The Archives hold thousands of historical documents recovered from fallen nations of the galaxy, as well as a rotating selection of documents from Federation members.
Architecture
The region was vastly altered by the 3419 Dujardin Plan. Asari architect-planner Dujardin was hired by the Olympus Council to design an urban plan for managing the Capital Region to make it more aesthetically pleasing and thus more befitting a location that was the political center of the Federation. The majority of the regions most famous landmarks were completed over the following decade.
Throughout the 3420s and 3430s New Liberty underwent a building boom. This was followed by large scale growth in high tech industries during the 3440s spurred in part by government assisted research facilities. Templin-Keppe became the region’s largest private employer in 3448 when it established a regional headquarters there.
