Paramountcy
A paramountcy is the second rank of government. Comparable to a kingdom, the lord paramount or lady paramount who own a paramountcy are the direct vassals of the king. Their vassals are lordships.
Qualifications
Most paramountcies have belonged to certain noble families, such as the Ljonguards, the Gadiels, or the Abraxans, for hundreds of years passed down to the eldest child, regardless of gender. Most heirs are trained to manage their future estates.
Appointment
The lords and ladies of a paramountcy must manage their estates, trade, lead the paramountcy courts, and manage the nobility beneath them. The lord/lady paramount must manage the lordships beneath them and act as the final say in governmental legislation of the region. All members of nobility within a region report to them, meaning they are in charge of keeping their respective region strong.
Each lordship must also give a percentage of their income and troops to the king/queen.
