Great North Wood

This sprawling forest sprawls across the northern rim of the Continent across the upper reaches of several Kingdoms. The southern edges of the forest have been penetrated by settlers from the northern Kingdoms who have cleared some areas of the forest for agriculture, especially those along navigable rivers. The forest settlements deal primarily in lumbers and furs. Further into the forests are scattered tribal settlements and communities of various types of beast men. The Forests is a favored refuge of bandits, outlaws, religious cults and anyone who wishes to keep some distance between themselves and civilization.

Geography

This area is is primarily covered with dense forest often covering steep hills. The forest is often pierced by rivers, some of which are navigable. In the East the forest climbs into the mountains that cover the underground Kingdom of Arduorra. The northern edge of the forest is the ocean. The coastline is usually rocky and in many areas features substantial sea cliffs and offers few beaches or sheltered landings.
