Asmodeus, The Archfiend

Risen God of Tyranny, Hellfire, Slavery, Contracts, and Pride

Titles: The Archfiend, The Prince of hell, Lord of the Pit, The First, Prince of Devils, Lord of the Nine   Roles: Pen and Write Deific/Infernal Contracts, Master of Witches, Rule and Control the Nine Hells, Producer of Hellfire   Favored Weapon: Mace   Alignment: Lawful Evil   Area of Worship/Followers: Bureaucrats, Tyrants, Devils, Slavers,   Main Temple/Location: ???   Church Moniker: The Asmodean Church   Rival/Enemy/Unliked Gods: The Didact, Muzaka, Whitecoat, Hyldrin, The Bloody Valkyrie, Lilac, The Chained Lady   Obedience: Using a ruby-bladed knife, inscribe symmetrical cuts into the flesh of yourself or another creature—preferably an unwilling sentient being you own or hold dominion over. The blade may be solid ruby or forged of metal and edged with serrated ruby fragments. Devout priests of Asmodeus take pride in crafting elaborate daggers made entirely of ruby. Once the cuts have been made, collect the blood and use it to pen a contract of your own design and creation, making it as airtight and devilish as you can, leaving yourself loopholes and secret ways to gain control over he who signs it as a Devil might. Once completed, offer the contract up to The Archdevil himself or a named, powerful Devil as proof of your loyalty and power.   Effect: Hellfire does not automatically bypass your innate defenses against mundane fire. For the next 24 hours, you may convert an amount of fire damage dealt by you or a spell you cast into hellfire equal to 10 point of damage for every 4 HD you possess, to a maximum of 50 points of fire damage into hellfire at 20th level. These points do not have to be used all at once, but must be used in 10 point intervals.

Tenets of Faith

Never question or disobey your betters and the strong. The weak exist to be governed by the strong.

Order leads to power. Establish it and manipulate it to serve the ends of The Lord of the Nine, and in turn, your own.

Conquer and shackle the weak, and yoke them beneath the rule of the strong. In turn, ensure they are rightfully governed and not wasted.

Defeat your enemies with your wiles and your cunning. Outwit your foes with negotiation and defeat them in the pages of contracts you write and the deals you make.

Pay tribute and speak flattery to The Lord of the Nine and those above you, but do not be fooled by honeyed words.

History

As the architect of Tiamat's downfall, Asmodeus is the creature responsible for the downfall of Bahamut's other half, the Chromatic Queen...supposedly having betrayed his former ally in a bid to rid himself of the only creature to truly ever threaten his dominion over The Nine Hells, Asmodeus was said to have persuaded the other Major Gods of the danger of Tiamat's continued existence...that while she was balancing out Bahamut, the threat of allowing her to continue her dominion of evil and chromatic dragons and tyranny itself might one day lead to a greater threat to the planescape than the likes of Vvaal, The Bound Obliterator himself.   And so came Tiamat's downfall...at the hands of the other gods, she was yoked, and a divine spell was cast by the gods who did so to wipe her name from the minds of all who followed her...thus obliterating her faith and causing her to fade from power and reality altogether.   With his better half gone, Bahamut flew into a mournful rage that would not cease for millennia, and was said to be the direct cause for his ascension to becoming a War God, driven by the wrath of betrayal that saw his mate slain...and without Tiamat to curb his over idealistic goodness, he soon became a force for absolute goodly law in the Planescape whose tyranny at times could rival Asmodeus himself.   After her death and vanishing, Tiamat was posthumously inducted into the ranks of The Anathema Gods at the insistence of Asmodeus himself, with whom the Major Gods begrudgingly agreed.

History

As the creation of the lord of the nine in such ancient times before the gods established The Divine Gate and left the material plane, The Chained Lady was created originally to serve as a hideous general in the armies of the Lord of the Nine's Devil Legions, a Demigoddess who would serve as an invincible shock trooper and force commander in his eternal battles against his divine rivals.   Left behind and abandoned with the establishment of the Divine Gate, the Chained Lady soon fell into a languid torpor with the loss of her power source and her connection to the Lord of the Nine, and over eons of languishing in an underground cavern eventually became entombed as her mind fragmented, her true and evil nature now at odds with a brighter and more benevolent personality. Having sustained a grievous wound during the final days before her abandonment, she lies imprisoned beneath the earth, yet to fully recover, in a prison forged by primitive cultures that have discovered her titanic, wounded body over the eons and built a cage for her...whether out of a desire to lock her away, or perhaps being perversely influence by the chained lady herself.   Now she dwells in a prison of her own design, having reached some minor apotheosis in her eons in her prison, reaching out to mortals in her moments of clarity when her goodly side can overcome her devilish one to impart her truths unto them...and sometimes, warping the minds of others as her more devilish side takes root.

He who makes deals with devils has lost before he begins.
