Anasss'gura Tribe

A splinter tribe of the Vass'anasss, the Anasss'gura lived in the "Deep Forest" of Darkbough for several generations before falling prey to the more dangerous denizens of the region.

History

Founded when a group of Vass'anasss splintered off from the main tribe and moved into the Deep Forest to start a new village. Following a period of prosperity and growth, the Vass'anasss were suffering from a great time of leanness, forcing extreme action to be taken to preserve the people. The chief ordered a culling of the eldest and youngest members of the tribe, in accordance with tradition, to give the strongest and healthiest of the tribe a chance to survive and continue the tribal lineage. The brother of the chief at the time believed that the forest was vast enough to support everyone, and that if the tribe split up the forest between them, everyone could be saved. The arguments became more and more heated, as the tribal elders argued against splitting up the strongest members, potentially dooming everyone, but the brother persisted. Finally, in an act of ultimate defiance, he gathered up his closest followers and fled into the Deep Forest, leaving his home and family behind.   The council of elders condemned those that fled, but took no action against them, instead turning their attention back to supporting the remaining Vass'anasss. For two generations thereafter the two tribes ignored each other, largely attending to their own survival, until a chance meeting between scouts reopened communication between them. Eventually, the two chiefs would create a tenuous trade agreement for the betterment of both peoples, but there was still much mistrust between the people until the fall of the Anasss'gura.

Disbandment

After venturing too close to the Darkbough Ziggurat Ruins, the tribal members attracted the attention of the psychic abominations dwelling within. Some of the creatures followed the explorers back to their home, killing most of the warriors and forcing the survivors to flee.
