Doctor Malory Ludin (a.k.a. Mother of Shadows)

My sister once told me to watch out for Doctor Ludin. That she wasn't what she seems. The nice old lady that healed us when we were young was just a front. Interesting enough that she apprenticed with the woman and learned all she could. Explains how she gives off an air of kindness, even as she is slitting the throat of someone who wronged the family. -Ace Cardia

Doctor Ludin is an amazing doctor who goes out of her way to help the slums of Salire. While secretly running the gangs of Salire from the shadows. Se has connections with the nobles as many of them depend on the medicines. She also had a hand in the creation of the seekers of the forge.

Personal history

Doctor Ludin was a determined woman who was driven by her compassion and her desire for power. She is belived to be one of the first individuals who was helped by the old man of salire. Thanks to him see gained a thirst for knowledge and the skill to heal even those at death door. Using her knowledge on medicine and not technology to create the things people would need to survive the city of Salire.
Along the way she helped founded the seekers of the forge out of a promise to the old man. While letting them focus on unovering loss tech, she put all her focus on learning about chemistry and healing.
She took over all the gangs of salire after a bad disease nearly wiped them off the map. She offered medicine for them to keep to a code. No child shall be harmed and they would go out of their way to protect them.
She even gained favor with the nobles by being the only person to heal one of them when they ended up poisoned from exposure to liquid essence.
She was always there to profit out of suffering, by being the one who could cure what ails them.

Education

Her first bout of education was learning from the mysterious old man of the slums. After that she pursued book knowledge on her own by sneaking into the upper town's library. She eventually gained apprenticeship with a doctor who saw her thirst for knowledge as a gift.
She would get a chance to even go to the elemental academy to study medicine as one of the few human students.

Employment

Doctor of the Slums: She became a doctor of the slums after returning for her schooling at the elemental academy. She used her knowledge to help many of the orphans who worked the factories. She even had a small practice set up near the edge of the slums where anyone could come for help. She offered a fare price, but was willing to give discounts for some help with some of her research.
Doctor to the Nobles: It would be during the plague that she would gain the eye of the Nobles. Being able to heal so many in the slums to keep them from falling to the plague, thanks to a cure she made. When one of the families caught the plague they sought her out for help. Thanks to her aid they were able to survive and she quickly became the only doctor any of the nobles would go to.
