Percen the Wise
Percen "the Wise" (in his youth, called "Percen the Red" because of his red hair) was the second High King of Albion and a Petty King of Ellis.
History
Percen the Red was a Kell from the House of Kentred. He proclaimed himself a Kell, but was still well liked by his Lisanrician subjects in the Petty Kingdom of Ellis. Chroniclers estimate his date of birth around the year 4260. He was known to be a powerful wizard, skilled in the ways of divination. During the year 4300, however, he faced a small invasion by the Dwarf King of the Golden City. It was then that Oswulf Longsword came to his aid. The two kingdoms of Ellis and Anfeld battled the Dwarves, and drove them away from the forests of Kirk. Then, the same year, the Petty Kings of the region were gathered into a meeting at Feller's Rock. The petty kings agreed that they needed a "high king" to prevent incidents of invasion from their neighbors again. Thus, Percen suggested the "one with the great longsword arm, Oswulf". Oswulf thus was elected to become the new High King of Albion. For twenty years Oswulf ruled the land, while Percen continued his studies of magic as well as ruling the lands of Ellis. As High King
In the year 4320, High King Oswulf the Longsword died. The Petty Kings of Albion fell into disarray, all desiring the coveted position. Because they could not make their mind, they decided the oldest of them all, Percen (now being called "the wise" because his hair was grey), should be the new High King. Percen reluctantly agreed to the position. For 10 years, Percen ruled as the High King. However, he foresaw the end of his days in his divination magic. He then enchanted a powerful sword for the next 10 years. Nearing the days of his death, he showed the petty kings his weapon. He called it "The Answer" and told the petty kings that whoever was worthy to become the true High King of Albion after he died, would be able to wield the sword. Thus, he plunged the sword within the Rock of Feller using his magic spells. Days later, Percen died, but there failed to be a new High King of Albion in his place. Thus, the Kingdom went into a period without a king.
