Ilsensine - The Great Old One

In legends of old, when Maclir was betrayed by Brigid, he retreated to the very sea he had created. When exploring the depths, he found he was not the only deity fighting for his control. Somehow, someway, an ancient eldritch abomination was feeding on the life his sister had made. This perversion sickened him. Maclir conquered the Great Old One, and banished him to the depths of the sea, chained in Maclir's deepest prison pits, called Davy Jone's Locker.   Ilsensine, the Great Old One, is the forbidden god of the depth. For thousands of years, the existence of this deity has been silenced. The churches of the divines banned his discussion, and the Church of the All-Divine, when finally formed, continued this practice. Many religious scholars admit they know little about Ilsensine and it's former cult, or where the false god even came from. It is only known that sailors have used it's existence in folklore to enforce their superstitions.
