Myths

The Dwarven Genesis

According to Dwarven clerical tradition, the divine Boldur spoke forth his first creation, the hammer. Using this hammer, he created the material realm of Talamh and shaped both the planet and the heavens. Then, Boldur looked to the existing Celestial Plane where he dwelled, took the power of spirit and the power of clay and formed life in his image: The Dwarves Rishon (the first male) and Ishah (the first female). To them he commanded them to craft to their desires on the earth. They did not worry about food or drink in those days.   However, the interference of Brigid's chaotic life led Rishon and Ishah to become curious. They abandoned their creations and began to kill and eat. This would anger Boldur, who told the Dwarves that for abandoning his good creation they would become part of Brigids: death and pain would come to them. Thus the first Dwarves found themselves aging, and would begin to dwell in caves out of fear of the dangerous world.

The Lawstone

The Dwarves would find comfort in creating cave societies, eventually starting to make sprawling mines in order to gather resources. Then, they would gold and gemstones. The dwarves found new prosperity in gold and started to leave caves in order to create mighty stone works and enjoy the golden rings and idols they formed. Yet Boldur found them idolatrous. Thus he sent a dwarven king named Melekh-Navi with a greater creation than statues or buildings: law itself.   Melekh-Navi's Lawstone formed a comprehensive legal system for the dwarves to follow that paid obedience to Boldur. It banned idolatry, adultery, murder, theft, and an assortment of other crimes. In using the Lawstone, the Dwarves turned back to Boldur. Melekh-Navi would build a mighty temple to Boldur in the city of Boldurun, the capitol of Babash that stands to this day.   Though Melekh-Navi died leaving the Dwarves in prosperity, the Dwarves began to see him as an incarnation of Boldur. They turned the Lawstone into their religious order and began to believe that one day Melekh-Navi would return to Talamh to bring further law.

The Afterlife

Dwarf clerical myth seems to state that dwarves that were lawful and good in all their ways will have their souls reunite with Boldur, and come to the realm of Shalvalla, a place of eternal drinking and sculpting in the presence of Boldur. It is a place of no pain or fear or hunger for the dwarves to eternally dwell.   However, for dwarves that were evil in their lives and showed constantly cruelty or chaos, they will be sent to the place of eternal punishment: Sho'ldektha. It is a place of eternal pain and suffering. There is no creation there, for whatever is made instantly changes and hunts the dwarves.
