Abilities

The heart attribute determines the number of abilities a character can have equipped at one time. The ability stat does not determine how many abilities the character knows, but instead, how many they can have equipped at one time.  

Starting Abilities

At Level 0, a character begins with a number of Magical , Melee and Ranged , and Utility abilities equal to the player character's ability stat. Note, PCs have additional racial traits gained from a player's choice of character race; a PC always have these abilities equipped. For other abilities, a PC must then choose what other kinds of abilities they have equipped at each given start of the game day.  

Abilities gained through Leveling

When a character levels up and is able to spend advancement points, a player can choose another ability that their character gains; a player might instead choose in increase their character's heart score to increase the number of abilities a character can have equipped at one time.
