Everyone in the room who has the power to so much as object under the Goner Empire's stupidly oppressive and hierarchical system, being the admiral: *agrees*Not wanting to lose the element of surprise, the admiral of the Goner Volunteer Earth Conquest Force decides that plowing right through any potential debris is a good idea and loses more than a third of his ships and 2 thirds of his soldiers (as the remaining 2/3 ships were all badly damaged, leading to many accidents) before the Goner invasion of Earth even begins. That's not even accounting for tonnes of ammo, the ship that had all their best vehicles (including most of their air support) and all but 7 of their superweapons - none of which are reusable.
