Charashen

The Charashen are a fanatic religious group of nomads found in the Uchioku Ashlands of Nwechou. They are usually Munnoku and often lead the largest of the Worau Clans.
Charashen have a simple goal: They want Mount Uchioku to grow large enough that it engulfs all of Ebdypha, turning everything into a burnt, volcanic wasteland. The Charashen can do little to actually achieve this goal, aside from offering sacrifices to the massive volcano. Climbing to the volcano's crater is considered a pilgrimage in itself. The purpose of their goal is transformative, as they believe that it will purify the spoiled lands and remove such blemishes as the Gcharon Blights, the Unending Dun, and the invasive Hkoin Jungle.
The spiritual leaders of the Charashen can sense the Asterite that fell into the volcano long ago, and they believe this presence is eventually going to be born as a new god. So they revere the volcano as a sort of place of divine incubation, and they dedicate their lives to the worship and appeasement of this deity, who they simply call Chochu.
Charashen rarely travel beyond the ashlands, but when they do, they carry ash with them, so that they can reapply their ash-painted symbols that present their devotion. Because they believe they are going to be directly responsible for bringing about an apocalypse and a new age, the Charashen find solace in their shared devotion to their cause. Everything they do revolves around the upcoming transformation.
