Mount Uchioku

Mount Uchioku is an enormous volcano found in eastern Nwechou. Ever since the end of the Scorched Earth era of the Young World age when the mountain was first struck by a piece of Asterite, Uchioku has been erupting and growing. Today, the volcano covers an area that would engulf smaller realms such as the Trinum Union near Hreda, the Kingdom of Parzhere near Delfea, or even the Masara Protectorate on Cjangar. The Uchioku Ashlands are utterly choked with ash, and most life here has adapted to this environment. Most of the ash travels to the west, and is usually trapped by the Uchioku, Hcharosr, Bhoichu, and West Nchikus Mountains.   There are unique plants in the region that have deep roots, tolerate heat, and survive in poor soils such as mosses, lichens, ferns, and hardy shrubs. The hydrothermal vents also encourage creatures such as worms, shrimp, and other critters to thrive in the mineral-rich expulsions, and ash makes the perfect place for certain kinds of beetles, ants, and flies to burrow and devour organic matter. Larger animals are usually either fast enough to fly or run from eruptions, or can burrow underground. There are also some hardy trees that can survive after being buried by ash and deprived of sunlight.   The Charashen believe that the Asterite that can be sensed inside the volcano is going to one day be birthed as a new god after Mount Uchioku covers all of Ebdypha.
