Rikkora Settlement in Cathrea | World Anvil

Rikkora

Demographics

Rikkora, although without any laws against any species, mostly consists of dwarves, humans and que'lim, since their physique is more sturdy and muscular than, for example, the ones of the maraa or elves. Most inhabitants work in or around the mines as miners, smiths or merchants.

Government

Rikkora does not have a mayor or political figure ruling over them, instead, the two brothers Taurien Steelaxe and Emberel Steelaxe, handling the workforce and economy respectively. Where Taurien is strict and fair, Emberel is bribed easily and more lenient for the right coin. It is common knowledge that one could offer him a respective sum of gold to gain more influence and special treatment.

Defences

Rikkora does not have a designated military force protecting them, but the inhabitants put great importance on security, so every strong worker naturally knows his way with the axe/bow and a shield. The warriors are really prideful in their bodies and in case of battle, do not wear extensive armor as an intimidation tactic against attackers.

Industry & Trade

Since Embrel Steelaxe handles the economical side of ther village, he and some of his consultants are in charge of keeping up the traderoutes. Rikkora imports big amounts of food from other villages, since they only have around 5 farmer families in their entire village. They mostly pay with the provision of ores and export it in large sums. Their main export goes to Nemstria Dresk, since the settlement was commisioned from Nemstria to supply material. One delivery consists of unpolished ore, but also ready-to-use weapons, armor and ingots.

Infrastructure

Rikkora is built next to a small mountain range, The Nembryll Range, extracting ore and minerals from the mountains. A big mine that runs deep into the mountain is occupied by the mayority of the residence. Aside from this and a small village center, there was a small bridge built to cross The Rikkorian Falls and access the natural hotspring.

Assets

Rikkora mines a ton of minerals. The workers constantly come across loads of iron, gold, copper, Moonstone and more. The village also has various traderoutes to other settlements, an inn, a tavern and a general goods store. There is a weekly market held that sells fresh food and other tradables, like cloth and tools. The hot spring next to the mountains waterfall offers relaxing baths and massages, miners even get discounts.

Guilds and Factions

Although Rikkora is not under any direct influence of a guild or faction, the Steelaxe brothers stem from The Ysch'tyx. They were sent to oversee the trade and set standardized prices for minerals. There is one representative of the Zvaarian Adventurers Guild to update the villages black board and provide information to those interested in joining the adventurers guild.

Architecture

The houses in Rikkora are buit sturdy and their stone brick walls can withstand any normal raiders attack. When entering the village, the industrial influence can instantly be seen. The vibe is blunt and everything is gray. The kids play on the gravel roads and green land can handly be seen in the settlements center. Old wooden windows and rough stairs leading up towards a door made of oak wood is commonly seen. The housing of the Steelaxe is the most wealthy looking one. Stone walls were built around the building and steel gates block the entry towards the tower-like structure, made of more wood than usual and more polished stone. Being the only houses with a balcony and a view over the village, the residence looks sort of prestigious.

Geography

Rikkora lies next to The Nembryll Range. Although the mountain range is not too big, standing at the foot of it, feels overwhelming. When someone is daring enough to climb the mountains, this person is rewarded with a most beautiful view. While the inside of the village is everything but pretty, outside the settlement lies a stunning view of the mountains. The waterfall supplying the city with water looks magestic and there might even be some unexplored parts around it.
